I'm believing that 2024 is the year we'll fill this room! 🙏
I'm so grateful for my lovely friend, Morgan (@storiedhomes) who asked great questions, listened well and gave us an amazing design plans! We've had a crib set up in this room for almost 4 years and have hosted 4 different kiddos through Together for Good in this space but it's always felt cold and uninviting. Morgan helped change it into a room I LOVE being in and can't wait to use more!
Here are a couple 'before' photos we used in our Adoption Profile book -
THEME: Make It a Garden
What does 'Make it a Garden' mean? Feel free to listen to this podcast to hear a message on the topic. The idea is to bloom where you're planted and make your situation - work, family, society - a garden!
Gardening takes TIME
Gardening takes EFFORT
And somethings, gardening takes a lot of PRAYER (at least for me)
With Gardening, you put your hands to work and get to see growth + beauty
Our fertility journey has been far from easy. To stay in the analogy, I feel like there has been lot of character 'pruning' where I've seen a variety of opportunities to 'cut off' bad attitudes and mindsets and try to regrow in a more healthy way. I've experienced a deep uprooting in the way I thought I could trust God but really, I would take control and try to fix things on my own.
Since we've chosen to pursue adoption, I've felt my whole body and mindset shift into peace and hopeful expectation. We've given ourselves over to time and cultivating a healthy home for our future children.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)
DESIGN
Morgan sourced the most BEAUTIFUL wall paper and helped think through how to tie each piece of decor and furniture together (with live plants and scripture throughout). There will be more pieces added once we're selected by a birth mother but to start, here is how we gave this room new life:
Fresh coat of paint
Statement Wall / Wall Paper
New Overhead Light
Updated Curtains
DIY Artwork with Scripture
Live Plants
First, we used the empty walls to write messages, prayers and scriptures:

When Morgan sent me wallpaper options, I was immediately drawn to this mural of a treehouse with animals and mountains. It's SO interesting, delicate and warm - which was the perfect combination that we needed.
This wallpaper is called Huck & Finn and I couldn't get it out of my head! After a ton of going back and forth, I nervously ordered it and it showed up less than a week later!
it
was
perfect!!
Honorable mention is to Ashley, who I called in a panic as I started wallpapering by myself 🙌
I couldn't be more happy with how it turned out. I spend a lot of mornings and afternoons sitting in this chair dreaming, writing notes to baby and praying for the future.

Baby F, your parents can't wait to meet you 🤍
